JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE: Educational Interpreter  

                                                                                                                        

FLSA:   Exempt

 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

The educational interpreter’s primary function is to provide interpreting services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their classmates, the educational staff, and others involved in the education setting.

 

This position reports to the building level principal.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

KNOWLEDGE

An ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate strong abilities in the areas of organization/time management, flexibility, and oral/written communication, as well as a strong knowledge of typical speech and language development and effective treatment strategies for atypical development.

Working Conditions:

 

School environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require considerable attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to school activities requiring movement/lifting items weighing up to ten pounds. Occasional local travel required.
