Spartanburg School District Two Instructional Coach

 

Purpose: To positively impact student achievement at assigned sites through support, training, coaching, and mentoring, which builds school and teacher capacity to increase classroom achievement.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and plan lessons and activities with teachers weekly during grade level and/or after school sessions
  • Teach model lessons and co-teach lessons for teachers
  • Model the effective use and integration of technology
  • Confer with teachers regarding strategies, grouping for instruction, lesson planning, interventions, etc.  
  • Work with individual and small groups of students, as needed
  • Conduct monthly professional development sessions on the ELA and Math Best Practices at the school level
  • Analyze student work to determine progress towards goals and next steps
  • Facilitate other forms of professional development as needed (book studies, guest speakers, etc.)
  • Organize and analyze school data to identify trends and needs (Data walls)
  • Collaborate with teachers to analyze class data
  • Assist in implementing school and district initiatives
  • Administer and coordinate student assessments
  • Manage resources for Literacy, Social Studies, Math, and Science instruction
  • Attend monthly District level Instructional Coach meetings
  • Conduct assigned sessions on District Professional Development days (August, January, February)
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and professional reading

Required Qualifications:

  • Effective problem solver
  • Evidence of at least three years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Strong knowledge of instructional technology
  • Effective communication skills
  • Evidence of planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to structure own time and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong knowledge of effective instructional strategies and Common Core standards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Willingness to lead/participate in District Professional Development opportunities

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in using the coaching process
  • Facilitation skills
  • Training/presentation skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning
  • Knowledge of effective staff development practices
